Dear Resident

This report is in relation to 4 unknown males, breaking into the garage at the rear of a residential property and attempting to steal a off road motor cross bike.

Between the material times, 4 SUSPECTS have broken through the garage shutters of the garage in the rear garden of  TRESILIAN SQUARE, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD.

One of the SUSPECTS held the broken garage shutters open while 2 other SUSPECTS entered the garage.

The fourth SUSPECT was standing directly outside of the garage keeping a lookout.

The SUSPECT that was holding open the garage shutters passed one of the SUSPECTS inside a pair of bolt cutters.

One of the SUSPECTS that was inside tried to use the bolt cutters to cut the chain that had the off road motor cross bike anchored to the floor.

As this was happening, Victim shouted to the SUSPECTS from his bedroom window that Police were on their way.

Tips to prevent burglary:

  • Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed.

  • Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features.

  • Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place.

  • Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages.

  • Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home.

  • Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows.

  • Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home.

  • Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm.

  • Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.

  •

Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area.

If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
